ABSTRACT : Le roman suit Ka, un poète turc en exil, qui se rend dans la ville reculée de Kars pour enquêter sur une vague de suicides parmi les jeunes femmes religieuses interdites de porter le foulard à l'université, tout en espérant retrouver son amour de jeunesse, İpek. Alors qu'une tempête de neige coupe Kars du monde extérieur, Ka se retrouve pris dans un huis clos intense où les tensions politiques éclatent entre les militaires séculiers, les nationalistes, et les factions islamistes menées par le charismatique "Blue".
